This I have made by popular request, a cilice choker. I’ve made it with black velvet to be simple and versatile enough for people’s outfits, and also to hide the inevitable stitches on the front. I had to make a one row cilice for this, and then painstakingly hand sew it to the back of the ribbon. This piece is an adjustable size from about 15 to 17.5 inches. I have placed this item with five “in stock”, but most of those will be made to order, so if you need a different length for your neck, please put that in the notes in your cart.
I’ve tried to price this fairly reasonably, even though the whole thing took me about three hours to make, but I am constrained by the fact that my website takes quite a chunk of every sale. My 1 row cilices of this length are typically $50 by themselves. The prongs on this are cut very short, and the lobster clasp is integral to the design because this is not meant to be switched down. I repeat it is not meant to be cinched down… I shied away from cilice collars for a long time because of the delicate nature of the neck area. So purchase and use this item at your own risk.
As with all of my cilices, this piece is made with 316L medical grade stainless steel, but the cleaning procedure for this is going to be different than the regular ones. You may find it more difficult, just be very delicate with cleaning. Just a disinfectant wipe with no bleach.
Finally, this piece is not meant to be completely hidden or subtle. You can see the cilice underneath the velvet at certain angles. So just be aware of that.
